TV-8 Vail Colorado

TV8 and TV17, located in Vail, Colorado, are integral components of the largest resort television station in the country. They are affiliated with RSN, the premier resort television network. When plans to rebuild Lion’s Head Village were announced, the relocation of the television facilities became mandatory. TV8 contacted Beck Associates to plan and implement the new digital facilities. Due to the extremely high cost per square foot of real state in a resort community, it was decided that a combination Master Control Room, Central Equipment Room, and Production Control Room was required. Beck Associates set out to pack it all into less than 350 square feet. Beck Associates’ extensive experience in mobile production space planning and integration proved invaluable in this instance. Beck Associates acted as the owner’s representative to the architectural and engineering team for the broadcast technical plant. Beck assisted the architect in the programming requirements for all technical spaces and provided space planning, heat load and technical power requirements to HVAC and electrical engineers. The Production system is designed around a GVG Kayak DD-2 Production Switcher. The power of the 2M/E switcher provided the large market “look” for a more than competitive price to the small operation in Vail. Two nonlinear edit bays are located adjacent to the main equipment room.
